A brand new online tournament series has just got underway on PokerStars!

The Summer of 2020 will go down in online poker’s history books as the craziest ever. With the 2020 World Series of Poker live events postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, online operators have stepped up to fill the void. On Monday, PokerStars threw their hat into the ring with the Stadium Series, a four-week. PokerStars has wasted no time in announcing another online tournament series, starting this Sunday, June 7. While not on the same stature as the recently concluded SCOOP series, the Summer Series guarantees an impressive $25 million spread across 151 tournaments. The two-week-long series culminates in two Main Events on June 21. Summer Series event and satellite tickets won in Second Chance Freerolls will be valid for 365 days. If unused during Summer Series, they can be used for any regular tournaments or satellites on PokerStars with the equivalent buy-in. (8) Wagering requirements and limitations by type of game. The first Summer Series Main Event ticket that a player wins in a Spin & Go is non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-refundable. If a player wins multiple tickets, any subsequent tickets can be exchanged for Tournament Money. Summer Series Second Chance Freerolls: This offer runs from June 18-28, 2020. The new Summer Series will run from June 7 to 21 across PokerStars' shared liquidity network and consists of a whopping 166 events with buy-ins ranging from $11 all the way up to $530.

The Summer Series kicked off on June 7 and will run through to June 21, featuring a total of 166 events, and a $25 million guarantee.

The festival aims to attract as many players as possible by offering a wide range of buy-ins, starting from as low as $11, all the way up to $530, with at least eight events taking place each day. Majority of the events on the schedule are NLHEs, but there are plenty in store for Omaha lovers as well. The events are played in progressive KO, 8-Max, 6-Max, Turbo, Hyper-Turbo, PLO, Stud, and Deepstack.

While the festival is essentially not for the typical micro-stakes grinders, it still gives plenty of opportunities for players of all levels to take part for an affordable price, via satellites.

Highlights

The series will culminate in the two biggest events on the schedule, the $55 NLHE Progressive KO Main Event Low which will give away $1,000,000 in guarantees, and the $530 NLHE Progressive KO Main Event High which carries a whopping $2 million guaranteed prize pool. Both events will take place on June 21.

The schedule also includes two special editions of the Sunday Million, with $1,500,000 in guarantees up for grabs from each event. The festival is also loaded with multiple six-figure guaranteed events, so there’s tons of opportunities for you to win big!

First Winners

The first event on Sunday drew a huge field of 9,804 entries, and awarded $490,000 in total prize pool. It was taken down by “G1a1u1s1s” from Brazil for $43,000. Russian player “andrezz_b” won the Omaha tournament for $24,594, while “WhoisICM” triumphed in the special edition Sunday Storm, outclassing a massive 42,933-entry field to capture $39,977 in top prize.

The new Summer Series comes as the 2020 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) concludes. The extended festival saw more than $185,000 in guarantees being awarded to the winners, creating history as the biggest prize money to be given away in a single tournament series.

The 2020 SCOOP Main Event was won by “Alexgirs” from Belarus, who topped a field of 609 entries and defeated Brazilian player Pablo “pabritz” Brito to walk away with $920,596 in first prize.
